Budget Overview
After you connect to a budget, Actual Bench takes you to the Budget Overview (/overview) — your
home base for that budget. It’s a lightweight snapshot and navigation hub, not an editing surface, so
it loads fast and always reflects current saved server state.
What the Overview shows
Section titled “What the Overview shows”- A live snapshot row with saved-state counts for transactions, accounts, payees, categories, schedules, and rules.
- Derived context — the Budget Mode (
Envelope,Tracking, orUnidentified) and Budgeting since, inferred from your oldest transaction date. - A manual Refresh with a loading state and a last-refreshed indicator. Snapshot values switch to loading placeholders immediately when you switch budgets or refresh.
The navigation hub
Section titled “The navigation hub”The Overview links out to the core workspaces so it can serve as your starting point each session:
- Direct links to the entity pages (Accounts, Payees, Categories, and the rest) and to ActualQL.
- Entry points for Budget File Health and the Data Browser, which open the exported snapshot for read-only inspection.
Whole-budget export and import
Section titled “Whole-budget export and import”The Overview page header hosts the Export and Import buttons for Bundle Export / Import — a one-step way to move all of a budget’s master data (accounts, payees, categories, tags, schedules, and rules) in or out as a single ZIP. Because the Overview intentionally skips preloading, the export dialog loads entity data on demand, so it always reflects current server state.
